Welcome to Ryan's List of Swahili Verbs, free for all to use, correct, and expand upon.

Welcome to Ryan Swahili Verb List. I started the project because I regretted that unlike Spanish, French, and German (among other languages), there wasn't a specific resource dedicated to Swahili verbs. How many "501 Verbs" books have you seen for other languages. It's quite unfortunate that one doesn't exist for Swahili (that I know of, please correct me if I'm wrong).

Verbs are express action and this is of course integral to speakign and writing and overall learning Swahili. I always want to "discover" new verbs. Learning verbs can also improve your entire vocabulary because often nouns are built from the stems of verbs (or vice versa?).

I'm not expert in Swahili and I use this list all the time. It helps me write papers and prepare for conversations. It also provides a quick and convenient lookup for common words.

I envision a lot more for this project than what it is now. At the moment I simple have a list of verbs and their meaning in English, as well as some specific use cases. These use cases were adapted from the Online Swahili-English Dictionary, probably the best on the Internet.

If you come across any mistakes or errors, or wish to help participate in the project, please contact me. If you want to know more about what is in store for Ryan's List, visit the site's blog and read the Project Roadmap.
